When used correctly, SEO and ChatGPT can drive tremendous growth. ChatGPT for lawyers increases client engagement and improves their web presence.
This article will discuss using these strategies effectively to reach new heights with your marketing goals.
Introduction: What is ChatGPT?
ChatGPT is a revolutionary messaging technology. It can help businesses create more engaging conversations with their target audiences. It uses artificial intelligence (AI) to dialogue and interacts with customer conversations in real-time, providing customers with personalised and meaningful interactions. SEO and ChatGPT allow law firms to interact directly with potential clients. Whether with chatbots, answering their questions, and providing helpful advice.
What is so good about Chatbots?
Before you say anything, you are right. Today’s chat widgets are horrible. But let me explain. There is confusion out there.
A chat widget is different to a chatbot.
Don’t confuse a chat widget with a chatbot. The chats you have thought of in the past are chat widgets that leave you feeling frustrated. You know, the ones where you want to throw the computer out the window. All you want is to talk to customer service. But the chat widget keeps sending you around in circles.
Ok, yes, I agree those chat widgets were too early to market. I’m talking about a chatbot that can talk with its customers in human-like conversation. These chatbots (ChatGPT driven) can revolutionise customer service.
Key Takeaways
- ChatGPT is a messaging technology that uses AI to interact with customers in real time, providing personalised and meaningful interactions.

Did you know it took Openai’s ChatGPT only 5 days to reach 1 million subscribers? Yes, you heard right ChatGPT reached 1 million subscribers in 5 days. To put that in perspective, Instagram took 2.5 months, Facebook 10 months, Twitter 24 months, and Netflix took 41 months.

- write social media posts
- write product descriptions
- write an entire website

- it remembers your last conversation
Thinking about where artificial intelligence (AI) is taking us is scary but exciting. There is a real possibility ChatGPT has the potential to disrupt many industries and also humanity in general. The team at LawSEO will embrace these new technologies. Don’t hold back and take advantage of these new tools by streamlining how you create content online for your law firm.

Before we start, I thought I would answer the elephant in the room… SEO: What does Google say about using AI to rank websites?
Thanks to the SearchEngineLand for some of this information.
At the ‘Google SEO office-hours hangout April 1, 2022’ John Mueller said ‘AI would fall into the category of automatically generated content.
John Mueller says:AI-generated content is spam according to the webmaster guidelines.
AI falls into the category of automatically generated content. Something that has been in the guidelines since the beginning. If your using machine learning tools like AI that is like shuffling words around and repurposing the content. My suspicion is the quality of the content is a little bit better but for Google it is against Google webmasters guidelines. So we would consider that spam.
John could not claim that they can detect AI-written content. John said that if we see spam, our web team will take action.
John says: Over time, AI might evolve and become more of a tool. But you will still need to manually work through whatever you are creating.
Finally, John said AI-generated content is considered spam and is in our guidelines.
Video: Google SEO office-hours hangout April 1, 2022
My takeaway at present. Google has not yet detected AI-written content automatically. But this does not mean they won’t start detecting it in the future. If it were me, I would listen carefully to John and, as he says, use AI as a tool and continue to create your work manually.
At the bottom of this article, I have provided a list of tools and websites that detect AI-written content.
We will discuss simple ways to use ChatGPT when creating content for any law marketing campaign.
Create a ChatGPT marketing campaign outline
Before you start creating your ChatGPT marketing campaign, having a clear plan is essential. Start by listing the key facts and questions you want to focus on during your campaign outline. Ensure that information is included to guide customers through decision-making regarding choosing the right law firm or lawyer. Additionally, brainstorm topics relevant to your law firm that could drive customer engagement and interest. These ideas can serve as prompt points for chat conversations throughout the campaign.
Pro Tip: Start by asking ChatGPT what a good marketing campaign outline might be for a family lawyer topic. Don’t stop there. Keep asking ChatGPT for more customised prompts. You’ll be astounded by the results.
Use narrow targeting to reach your audience
To ensure maximum engagement from your target market, you must narrow down the keywords and phrases you’re looking for in your law marketing campaign. This includes ensuring that all content is tailored to the law-related needs of your audience. For example, if you are targeting people interested in getting a divorce, ensure that your content is about getting a divorce rather than other legal issues. Use keyword research tools and audience data to understand which terms attract customer engagement. Additionally, identify key demographics you want to target—age range, location, job position, salary—to ensure messages are sent directly to those needing them most.
Pro Tip: In the same thread above, continue asking ChatGPT this prompt: what keywords can we target for our XXX family law marketing campaign? Again don’t stop. Customise your prompts, and you should see better results. Now add these keywords to your favourite keyword research tool and dig deeper.
Use automation to reach more people, quickly
To maximise the efficiency of your ChatGPT marketing campaigns, look into applying automated techniques. Automation can help you quickly respond to prospects and increase your outreach capabilities. Using automation tools like chatbots, you can customise answers to user queries and quickly press send when appropriate. Automation also allows you to reach a larger audience without spending time manually sending messages. These automated tools are ideal for helping law firms handle more interactions with fewer resources. An example of an automation tool is Make.com. Make allows you to automate all sorts of workflows, apps and systems into your daily work practices. We do, and it saves us a tonne of time.
Pro Tip: Start by asking ChatGPT what reasonable automation steps you can take on whatever area you are trying to improve.
Leverage personalisation in your messages
Personalisation is vital if you want your law campaigns to have a lasting impact on prospective clients. Personalised messages make users feel like they are being heard and understood, increasing their likelihood of engaging with your law firm. Use personal details like their name or the city they’re from to make them feel they are being taken seriously. Additionally, tailoring messages based on the user inquiry ensures that your message resonates and you’ve answered their query accurately and quickly.
Pro Tip: Start by asking ChatGPT to write a personalised email or blog related to your chosen topic.
What are some cases of using ChatGPT for lawyers?

How to detect AI written content
AI detection tools are an important resource for SEO-focused content writers. It provides them with crucial information regarding their content. By scanning the text for patterns, the AI can detect grammar, punctuation, spelling, syntax and even writing style inaccuracies. With this data in hand, writers can make informed decisions about the quality of their work before publishing it. As pointed out above, Google regards AI-written content as spam.
Free AI detection tools are available right now
These are my favourite detection tools currently available on how to detect AI.
Detector 1: Online demo of the GPT-2 output detector.
Detector 2: Test-Model: gpt-2-small offers a forensic inspection of the visual footprint of the language model to detect whether the content is fake or real.
Detector 3: Copyleaks AI detector.
Detector 4: Writer will evaluate whether AI entirely produced your content.
Detector 5: Content at Scale states their AI detector is one of a kind.
Probably one of the best is Originality.ai. However, it is a paid service but well worth it.

Google chrome extension AI tools
Extension 1: Ask Merlin, which is my favourite. It embeds into Google and just about anywhere else: spreadsheets, Word docs, and websites.
Extension 2: WebChatGPT augments your ChatGPT prompts with relevant results from the web.
Extension 3: Promptheus – Converse ChatGPT and use your voice to talk to ChatGPT with the spacebar! 🎤
Extension 4: ChatGPT for Google is similar to Merlin. The widget floats on the right-hand side of Google search.
Real or Fake guessing of AI content
To finish off, why not try a game of trying to guess whether the content is real or fake. It was relatively hard to guess the correct answers.
